Mindo, Ecuador feels like another world.
Deep plunging canyons covered in mossy trees blanket the entire landscape that dominates the area. Mindo, Ecuador is located in Ecuador’s cloud forest. Mystical clouds pass over the vegetation, and suddenly your sense of sky and earth disappear, melting into one tantalizing creation.
Mindo is known for its birdwatching, where over 470 different species of birds are found. As a result, Mindo is one of the world’s most diverse birds and butterflies, and plants’ life concentrations. This makes Mindo one of the best places in Ecuador to get out into nature.
An irresistible magnet for bird-tourists. Declared as the leading site in South America of global importance for birds such as gallitos de la peña, multicolored tanagers, tealights, seedlings, Andean toucans, blackbirds, nuns, golden-headed quetzals, collared pigeons, hawks, hawks, and other species have encouraged the locals to live off ecotourism.
You can easily observe many species in a single day, including enigmatic nocturnal birds such as the Nuboselvático Mochuelo, discovered in 1999, and the amazing Chotacabras Colilira whose tail reaches half a meter in length.
So much diversity in Mindo is located in the Chocó region, with around 450 endemic birds, the continent’s largest endemism. There are also excellent tourist facilities and a well-marked road network that allows you to explore this beautiful and paradisiacal place.
