What led you to this creative & edgy profession? Is this something that you have always wanted to do? How did you start?
I have always related to Art, Graphic Design, Photography, and so on. I have always wanted to be an artist, and I have always loved tattoos. And by tattooing, you get to help tell someone’s story, which makes it much more enjoyable for me.
I started as an amateur tattoo artist at the art school, but it didn’t work because I was too young. After that, I went to the university and became a graphic designer. I worked as a publicist and illustrator for years, but I got burned out. That’s why I decided to start tattooing again. I’ve been doing it professionally for ten years and enjoy every minute.
Follow-up thought: tell me about the first time you tattooed someone. Did it go better or worse than expected?
It was worse than I expected, honestly. I did it on a friend in high school, but I did a cover-up tattoo on his arm ten years later, and both of us were very happy with how it turned out.
Do you have a particular tattooing style?
I don’t have a particular style. I think every style is excellent, and I like to do everything. However, as an artist, I believe I have to be able to manage more than one single style.
Tell me about your most memorable tattoo session. Why was it so memorable to you?
My most memorable tattoo session, let me think… I have a friend who had to take a plane, and we didn’t have much time. So we did a complete sleeve in one day and one night without sleep.
In your opinion, what do you think is the biggest mistake someone could make before getting tattooed?
If you are unsure about getting a tattoo, don’t get it. Most of all, don’t get your boyfriend or girlfriend’s name tattooed. That’s the worst because almost everyone comes back asking for a Cover-up in months, not years.
On the other hand, what is the best thing someone can do before getting tattooed?
That being said in the previous answer the best thing is to be sure that you want a tattoo and have thought about what you want. When you are sure about what you’re doing, you will always be happy with the results. Bring some photos and ideas of the tattoo you want, and we can discuss them.
If you could tattoo someone famous, who would it be?
I have tattooed famous people, and they became good friends; they are great, but I’m not particularly eager to talk about it because I want to be recognized for my work, the same way my famous friends worked hard to be recognized for their work.
Best ways to keep your tattoo from fading?
The best way to take care of the tattoos is to avoid direct sun and always put sunblock on them. Keeping the tattoo moist with body lotion is essential, and keeping hydrated so drinking lots of water keeps the skin soft. Wearing loose clothing and avoiding pulling the scabs, tattoo healing is similar to wound healing. Avoid swimming for a couple of weeks. Submerging your tattoo in water can cause the ink to pull out, which will cause fading. Swimming in hot tubs or pools can bleach out your tattoo’s color as pools tend to have chlorine water. Again bathing in hot water can lead to your tattoo fading and an infection.
What is your favorite tattoo that you have?
I like all my tattoos. Some of them are professional and technical, but all of them represent one experience and time in my life
